Place your bets

Put aside

Doubts, regrets.

Of high risk ventures,

No returns,

Cigarette stains

And coffee burns

Face the music,

Take the dive,

You may find

The cat’s alive

Pay no attention

To the part

Where fear whispers

In your heart:

Weddings, Funerals,

Are the same

Someone borrowed,

Someone blamed;           

At least in death

One can pretend

That all the pain

Has reached its end.
